Baidu issues several accessible pages of its service, such as news, Zhidao, Baike. Yes, only some friendly navigation pages for blind, it doesn’t modify its content pages at all. So in my opinion, Baidu is just show-off and it doesn’t want to get sand-blind users.

Baidu publishes its book search at http://book.baidu.com/. You can search many Chinese books from several online book stores. But there is only little info about the book, such as author, press, content menu and order links, you can’t read any page or comment it at Baidu. So it can’t compete with Google book search and douban.com (en), the leader book search in China. Just an aggregate search engine of several online book stores I think, and you can’t compare the price between the stores, only one order link of one book. So bad.
Baidu publishes a video index protocol to crawl video on Internet. It’s similar to Sitemaps protocol but more advanced. Length of video, tags, description could also include in XML file.
Baidu has already issue news index protocol before to promote its news search.
Robin Lee, CEO of Baidu, posted a blog yesterday asked Baidu users what E-mail service they want to have. Many Baidu users leaved there comments and advice on his page. It was regarded as Baidu will offer E-mail service. http://mail.baidu.com was for Baidu Company E-mail before, but now it can’t be opened. Lee says E-mail service should has unlimited storage and convenient use.
Now Tencent (QQ) is testing its new E-mail service behind closed doors; it is shown that Baidu, the top search engine in China, and Tencent, which has top instant messenger in China, will have a hot competition this year.
Youku now becomes the fifth top cooperator of Baidu after Alibaba, Dangdang, CNNIC and Huicong. A related link of keywords will be shown on the sidebar that mentions users to find videos about the keyword.
Youku is a popular video share site in China similar to Youtube in U.S. And Baidu provides video search early this year to compete with Sina video blog service. Otherwise, Myspace China will be published soon to compete the video share market.
Baidu official blog notices that Baidu is going to release rankings of China cosmetics brands at Shanghai Four Seasons Hotel this Thursday. A serials of top brands lists will be published, such as most concerned high-end cosmetics brands by Chinese netizens, most attention shampoo brands in China ,etc. It’s about 15 rankings list totally to announce.
Last month, Baidu released home appliances brands list to start its brands lists of industry. It reflects what brands are concerned by Chinese netizens in 2006. And more reports of other industry will be published for the future.
China IntelliConsulting Corporation has just released its latest survey findings on China paid search advertisers.The survey interviewed, either by email or by phone, 555 respondents out of a sampling pool of 4684 active advertisers representing an estimated 4% of total paid search advertisers in China.

IResearch says that Baidu gets 45.9% market share and Google gets 33.4% followed. The third one is Yahoo China, shares about 12.5% of the market.
